Bio

Bastiaan Krom, Ph.D., is appointed as molecular microbiologist at the Academic Centre for Dentistry Amsterdam (ACTA). He graduated from the University of Groningen in 2002 and was appointed there as an Assistant Professor between 2004 and 2011. Since 2011 he works within the department of preventive dentistry where his research focuses on microbial biofilm formation. He has a strong interest in fundamental processes that govern biofilm formation, most notably the role of interspecies chemical and physical interactions. From this perspective he is also involved in microbial biofilms in chronic wounds and burn wounds.
