Bio

Dr. Denise van Diermen MD, PhD, is working as Associate Professor for Oral Medicine at the Academic Center for Dentistry Amsterdam (ACTA). After graduation at the Academic Medical Center (AMC) in Amsterdam, she performed research projects on thrombosis and hemostasis and genetic disorders of cholesterol metabolism. In 1995 she joined the department of Medical-Dental Interaction at ACTA, currently known as Oral Medicine, and is involved in medical education for dental students and oral hygienists, research in dental treatment of medically complex patients and more recently: research in medical and dental education. She supervises the dental treatment of medically complex patients at ACTA and is a well appreciated lecturer.

She is co-editor of the book “Algemene Ziekteleer voor Tandartsen” and has multiple publications in Dutch and international scientific journals. She wrote her PhD thesis on the ACTA guideline for Dental treatment of patients using oral antithrombotic medication in 2013.
