Dr. Catherine Volgenant is in 2009 cum laude afgestudeerd als tandarts aan het ACTA. In 2016 is zij gepromoveerd in de microbiologie aan de afdeling Preventieve Tandheelkunde met haar onderzoek over plaque-autofluorescentie als indicator voor mondziekten. Catherine werkt momenteel als onderzoeker en universitair hoofddocent op ACTA en is een ware expert op het gebied van de hygiëne en infectiepreventie. Ze is co-auteur van het boek 'Hygiëne en Infectiepreventie in de mondzorgpraktijk' en mede-initiatiefnemer van het UvA klimaatinstituut SEVEN: Joining forces for fair climate solutions.
