Mr. dr. Wolter Brands werkt als tandarts (maat) in een groepspraktijk en is plaatsvervangend rechter aan de
rechtbank in Midden Nederland. Daarnaast is hij actief in het (PAO) onderwijs. Hij is gepromoveerd in het gezondheidsrecht en heeft talrijke,
nationale‐ en internationale lezingen en publicaties over het raakvlak van het gezondheidsrecht en de dagelijkse tandheelkundige praktijk op zijn
naam. Hij is betrokken (geweest) bij kwaliteitsinstrumenten en richtlijnen van de NMT, de FDI en van het programma Zichtbare Zorg. Daarnaast is hij
hoofdredacteur van het NTvT.

Wolter Brands DDS JD PhD (1955) is a part time dentist and a part time judge. From 2004 until the end of 2011 he was a associated professor in social dentistry. In 2007 he served several months as a visiting fellow at Creighton University (USA). From the beginning of 2012 he focuses, besides his work in his practice an in court, on post graduate courses. He is president elect of the International Dental Ethics and Law Society and he is member of the board of several Dutch dental societies and workgroups of the Dutch Dental Organisation. He organized several international- and many national congresses. His fields of interest are health-law, dental ethics and quality control. He is the (co) author of several Dutch guidelines. Brands published more than 100 articles both in Dutch- and international journals and is de (co) author of several books.
