Wim Crielaard obtained a PhD from the University of Groningen in 1989 and is currently employed as professor of Molecular Biology at the Academic Center for Dentistry in Amsterdam (ACTA). He is the head of the Department of Preventive Dentistry in which research is focused on the molecular microbiologic processes that actively sustain Oral Health. With his co-workers he studies the ecologic complexity of dental plaque in relation to oral health and oral disease. Besides population-composition and population-activity research includes biological signal transduction events leading to dynamic changes in physiology, and hence the beneficial and virulence potential of the oral microorganisms. He has published more than 100 papers on Molecular Microbiology in the scientific literature. Categories: Preventive Dentistry, Oral Health, Cariology, Oral Microbiology, Molecular Biology
