Dr. Denise Duijster is Associate Professor at the Department of Society and Oral Health of the Academic Centre for Dentistry Amsterdam (ACTA). After obtaining her bachelor's degree in Dentistry, she completed her master's degree in Dental Public Health at University College London. In 2015, she obtained her PhD from the University of Amsterdam on the role of family in the prevention of caries in children. Currently, Denise conducts research on oral health in society. She focuses on socio-economic differences in oral diseases, the quality of oral care, behavioural change and the prevention of caries in both high- and low-income countries. Her teaching focuses on research methods and statistics, evidence-based dentistry and oral public health. She has management experience at, among others, the Amsterdam Young Academy, the Dutch Association for Paediatric Dentistry and the congress board of the International Association of Pediatric Dentistry.
