In 2010, Dr. Ilona F. Persoon graduated cum laude as a dentist at the Academic Center for Dentistry Amsterdam (ACTA). In 2016, she obtained her PhD on the microbiology of root canal infections at the Department of Preventive Dentistry of ACTA. Since then, Ilona has been working as a researcher and lecturer in the field of infection prevention at the Preventive Dentistry department. She is involved in the three pillars of ACTA: research, education and healthcare. Until 2024, Ilona also worked as a dentist in a general dental practice.
