Bio

Prof. Dr. Corine Visscher completed her Master's degree in Epidemiology at the Vrije Universiteit (VU) Amsterdam in 2007. In 2018, she was appointed as Professor of Orofacial Physical Therapy at the Department of Orofacial Pain and Dysfunction (OPD) of the Academic Centre of Dentistry Amsterdam (ACTA). Her primary interests and research focus on the role of the physical therapist in the diagnosis and treatment of TMD and headache as part of interdisciplinary collaboration. In addition, she conducts research on educational developments in the (para)medical field. Corine has (co-)authored over 130 papers in peer-reviewed international journals, including the paper on the Diagnostic Criteria for TMD (DC/TMD) and, more recently, the adopted version of the DC/TMD for children. She is an honorary member of the Physical Therapy Board of Craniofacial and Cervical Therapeutics (PTBCCT), a group that is closely connected to the American Academy of Orofacial Pain (AAOP). Since 2024, she is the vice-president of the International Network for Orofacial Pain & Related Disorders Methodology (INFORM).
