Prof. dr. Frank Lobbezoo graduated cum laude as a dentist from the University of Utrecht (UU) (The Netherlands) in 1988. In 1992, he obtained his PhD from the UU, after which he worked for three years as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Montreal in Quebec (Canada). Since 1996, he has been working at the Academic Centre for Dentistry Amsterdam (ACTA), where he was appointed as an Associate Professor in 2005. In 2014, he became Chair of the Department of Oral Health Sciences and Vice-Dean of ACTA. Since 2023, he serves as Chair of the Department of Orofacial Pain and Dysfunction. Frank is specialized in TMD/Orofacial Pain and has been President of the Dutch Dental Society (NTG), the European Academy of Craniomandibular Disorders (EACD), and the International RDC/TMD Consortium, a Network of the International Association of Dental Research (IADR). Since 2023, he has been a member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW). He also served in 2006 as a Visiting Professor at the University of Adelaide (South Australia) and in 2014-2015 at the College of Dentistry of the New York University (the United States of America). In 2016, Frank received an Honorary Professorship at the School & Hospital of Stomatology, Shandong University in Jinan (China). In 2019, he was appointed as Honorary Skou Professor of Orofacial Pain and Jaw Function at the Department of Dentistry and Oral Health, Faculty of Health, Aarhus University (Denmark). As of 2024, he serves as Visiting Professor at the Department of Orofacial Pain and Jaw Function, Faculty of Odontology, Malmö University (Sweden).
